The Academy of Botanical Art Classes at Palma Sola Botanical Park |

  ome join us for Botanical Drawing, Watercolor and Pen and Ink classes
sponsored by the Academy of Botanical Art. Be a part of the second
Renaissance in botanical art! Workshops are held on Tuesdays from 9:30 AM
until 2:30 PM and are open to all levels of art students, beginner to
advanced and even professionals. Students work at their own pace and skill
level, and the park is available to us to choose botanical subject material
from paradise! The botanical art and illustration methods and techniques
taught in class are based on pre-20th century botanical art master
techniques which are covered in detail in O. M. Braida's book series, "Ten
Steps -- A Course in Botanical Art and Illustration, Volumes 1-10". Students who are interested can also work towards a Certificate in Botanical
Art and Illustration.

 lorida Yards and Neighborhoods (FYN) program is a multi-faceted program and is administered through the Cooperative Extension Service of the University of Florida's Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) in partnership with the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) and other sponsoring agencies.
The program seeks to educate homeowners through a self-help assistance program which provides literature and advice by trained volunteer Master Gardeners (called Florida Yard Advisors). Our program covers nine interrelated principles including: Right Plant, Right Place; Water Efficiently; Fertilize Appropriately; Mulch, Attract Wildlife; Manage Yard Pests Responsibly; Recycle; Reduce Stormwater Runoff; and Protect the Waterfront.
Through this program homeowners learn how they can protect the Florida environment and save money one yard at a time.
